Yes, you can't find a good DR solution in $300, that was just an example i made, you have to spent more but it will be like a onetime investment and also you own the devices and you can run it 24/7 but not like in azure you have to pay for what you use. In regards to Azure VM, since home users are already accustomed to remoting into desktops, don’t you think it’s going to enhance their experience if I go with GPU based Azure VM? Their home internet connection will stay same, but I would think accessing Azure VM over the Internet will be more reliable than accessing workstation at their office where internet connection is provided by local I like the DR option but I don’t think I can find good DR solution for $300. ( e.g Azure File Sync, DFS or third party) What is the recommended File Sync technology to sync files between on prem and Cloud shares.Which Public cloud provider ( AWS or Azure) is more suited for this scenario?.Do you see any issues with my approach? if so, can you please suggest changes or a different solution.I am hoping spiceheads can help me with these questions: This is will be hybrid approach where most of the users will continue to use traditional workstations but Mobile users will be using Cloud based Workstations. I am thinking about Syncing all their file shares to Azure or AWS and then create GPU enabled Desktops/Workspaces to access the shares on cloud. I am trying to see if It makes sense to provide them a better solution Primarily for home users and remote sites in the form of Cloud based services. We recently had a Server died at one of the remote locations and it hurt their business as restore took two days. Every time they bring new "Work from Home" employee, they buy a dedicated machine and we deploy it at their main site. Each Home user connects to their dedicated Workstation at the main office to access AutoCAD files. In addition to these three sites, they have users who work from Home. DFS replication is setup to sync remote file shares to the main site.
Main site hosts pretty much all the IT infrastructure, the two remote offices have local DC and file shares. We have a customer with about 8 TB of AutoCAD file shares.
